Are evening transfers to and from Nha Trang a good idea, and when is it easier to get a taxi?

One traveler shared that they left at dusk and drove in the dark with very little traffic, and the mountain pass didn't feel scary. But on the way there, tour buses were dangerously overtaking on the oncoming lane at blind curves of the mountain road, at speed — a specific hazard to watch for on these transfers.

For a Vinpearl trip, avoid leaving the return transfer too late: returning around 7:00 pm was quick, while queues and waits increase noticeably after 8:00 pm. At about 10:00 am, the wait for the speedboat was roughly 30 minutes.

Early morning is the easiest time to get a taxi. Travelers report that around 5:00 am cars are easy to find, while after 6:00–7:00 pm wait times increase because many drivers are reluctant to take the ride.

In light traffic, a taxi ride into Nha Trang can take about 30 minutes. That kind of fast transfer is usually only realistic when roads are clear and the driver is moving aggressively.

For longer trips from Nha Trang, avoid planning the return after sunset. One-way travel can take just under 3.5 hours, and conditions get much worse in the evening: it turns dark fast, heavy rain can start, some stretches have no lighting, and oncoming high beams are tiring. In that situation, an overnight stop on the way is a sensible backup plan.
