Can a Trip.com eSIM in Nha Trang, Vietnam be used for hotspot tethering and receiving SMS?

TL;DR

Some Trip.com eSIM plans support hotspot tethering, but travelers should confirm this in the individual plan description before buying. SMS availability depends on whether the eSIM includes a phone number; typical travel data-only plans are generally intended for mobile data only.

Hotspot sharing can work with a Trip.com eSIM in Nha Trang: a traveler reported using one with tethering enabled. Before paying, open the selected plan’s details and look for an explicit tethering or hotspot allowance.

Trip.com lists many eSIM options, so check whether the allowance is total data or a daily cap. A 5 GB-per-day option was considered for regular use without movie streaming; that amount is usually more than enough for maps, messaging and social media.

If you need SMS verification codes, do not assume that a standard travel eSIM will receive them. Check whether the plan explicitly includes a local phone number and SMS support; otherwise, keep your main SIM active for messages or buy a local SIM with a number.
