Can I pay in Nha Trang with a foreign-issued UnionPay card after the July 24 sanctions?

As of mid-August, Rosselkhozbank (RSHB) UnionPay cards are confirmed to work for payments in Vietnam almost like regular Visa/Mastercard, except at ACB, Techcombank, and Vietbank terminals, which do not accept them.

Asian-Pacific Bank (ATB) UnionPay cards also work for payments in Vietnam, but are not accepted at ACB, Techcombank, Vietcombank, and Vietbank terminals. Sacombank, VietinBank, and BIDV terminals support contactless payment; other terminals require card insertion.

As of July 26, there was no confirmed recent report of RSHB UnionPay payments working in Nha Trang; travelers were still seeking same-day payment checks.

On July 25, travelers were still looking for confirmation of RSHB UnionPay transactions from that day or the previous day. Do not rely on this card as your only payment method.

Following the sanctions introduced on July 24, the status of RSHB UnionPay payments remained unverified. For Nha Trang expenses, exchange some cash into VND in advance.
