TL;DR
A Nha Trang–Da Lat day trip is possible with a roughly 05:30 departure and a return around 21:30–22:00. Start early for the mountain road and avoid leaving the final stop too late, particularly in rainy weather.
For a Nha Trang–Da Lat day trip without an overnight stay, leave your hotel at about 05:30. A sample schedule is Khánh Lê Pass at 07:30–08:00, Clay Tunnel from 09:15–10:45, Crazy House from 11:15–12:30, then lunch in central Da Lat until 13:30.
For the afternoon, continue with Dalat Gods' Valley (14:00–15:45), Thung Lũng Khói Xanh panoramic café (16:15–17:15), and Linh Phuoc Pagoda with its “18 Hells” passage (17:20–18:30). Leaving for Nha Trang at 18:30 should put you back around 21:30–22:00.
Use an early schedule on the Nha Trang–Da Lat mountain road: later in the day, large tour buses and minibuses can slow traffic. There is no lighting on the winding mountain section after 16:00, and rain can make the journey more difficult.
If combining Ba Ho Waterfalls and Doc Let Beach in one day, allow at least 2–3 hours for the climb to the three pools and a break. You may not reach Doc Let until lunchtime, while the last local bus or minibus back to Nha Trang generally leaves around 16:00–17:00.
