How to avoid long queues and transport hassles going to/from Vinpearl Island in Nha Trang (cable car vs speedboat, getting a taxi back)?

TL;DR
Head to the cable car/park around 11am when it's nearly empty; leave the island before 7pm — later the speedboat queue gets huge and ride-hailing apps often can't find a driver.
Travelers note that at 8:00am the queue is still moderate, but by 9:00am crowds have already built up — aim for the very earliest morning slot, not just 'before 9am'.
Leaving the island by car/taxi in the evening can mean getting stuck in heavy traffic due to a huge number of motorbikes on the road toward the city — road congestion itself, not just the pier queue, can cause long delays.
At 7am tourists and guides were seen tiredly waiting in a queue on the roadside; instead of waiting, one traveler turned around and took a different, winding alternate road, avoiding the line altogether.
A shared shuttle from the central street (not the usual pickup spot) around 11am starts nearly empty and picks up passengers along the way, leaving only once full.
Right after the evening fountain show near the park, a Grab ride took about 30 minutes to arrive and cost 86k VND. Walking around 800m toward the city center made it much faster to get picked up.
Around 7pm from the park, the Maxim app often fails to find any driver at all — no one accepts the ride. At that hour it's better to rely on Grab or arrange transport in advance.
Staff at the island pier ask your planned return time in advance to plan how many boats are needed. At 2:15pm a boat filled up almost immediately and departed with no wait.
Arriving at the cable car around 11am means almost no crowd — only about five people at the ticket counter, no wait at all.
Returning from the island by speedboat around 8:30pm means a huge queue at the pier — standing in that crowd is exhausting.
