Where is the best area to stay in Nha Trang: the city center or the northern beach area?

For long-term stays, consider the northern part of the city — many expats live there and prices are lower than downtown. The northern beach is smaller than the central one, but the huge Oceanus residential complex is right across the road with plenty of shops and cafes. Downside: evenings near Oceanus can be noisy due to discos. For more quiet, you'd need to go further north, though beach and infrastructure options get worse there.

The Muong Thanh complex is compared to a dormitory: block B is somewhat okay, while block A is described as bad. On the plus side, the sea is right across the road, but it gets very crowded in summer.

At the northern beach the water is shallow and murky with large rocks, making it less suitable for swimming, though the scenery is nice. Overall in Nha Trang, the more scenic, green stretches of beach with palm trees are said to be near the Lotus area.

Besides Oceanus, people recommend Scenia Bay and the Galaxy complex (in the southern part of the city) as places to stay. The center is strongly advised against due to noise. If choosing the north, it's better to get a higher floor with windows facing north or the sea, to avoid hearing morning street vendors.

For a quieter stay, many people choose northern Nha Trang, especially the Oceanus area by the northern beach. It suits travelers who prioritize a calmer neighborhood over having lots of services right outside.

Central Nha Trang is more convenient for everyday life because most cafes, services, and city activity are concentrated there. But it is not ideal for everyone, as the constant noise and crowds can become tiring during a longer stay.

The north is not always more practical: there are fewer places nearby, the beach is considered weaker, some parts can smell from the canal, and strong low tides happen in summer. In winter, swimming at the northern beach is often uncomfortable as well.
