TL;DR
Regular flights have fixed schedules; charter flights can be shifted by hours within the same day without compensation. If you arrived on a charter, you can depart on a charter or regular flight — but not switch airports, and stay must not exceed 28 days.
If you arrived on a charter flight but violated the maximum stay duration or changed the departure airport, you can only return on a regular flight.
Regular flights cannot be cancelled outright — only changed. For example, a booked Aeroflot scheduled flight will be modified rather than cancelled.
If you arrived on a charter flight, you can return on a charter, a regular flight, or a regular flight with a charter block — as long as you don't change the departure airport and your stay doesn't exceed 28 days. If you arrived on a regular flight, you must return on a regular flight.
Regular flights are more reliable schedule-wise — changes only happen in force majeure situations like airport closures. Charter airlines can legally reschedule your flight to any time within the same calendar day without extra charge or compensation. For example, a morning departure could be moved to 23:59, costing you a full hotel day. Compensation is only applicable if the flight is moved to a different calendar day.
Travel time on a shared transfer from the airport to your hotel in Egypt varies depending on the resort and number of stops along the route — check with your tour operator or transfer provider for an exact estimate.
