Is food at all-inclusive hotels in Egypt good enough, or should you plan to eat dinner outside the hotel?

TL;DR
Traveler feedback suggests that food at Egyptian resort hotels is usually adequate but not memorable: breakfast covers the basics, yet many guests still prefer to go out for dinner. Service is often praised, and restaurant attention may improve if you tip.
A recent report says restaurant service can depend a lot on tipping: the waiter was good, and guests tipped at both lunch and dinner. The impression was that staff may be less attentive at first if you do not tip.
One guest on an Ultra package said that even if you receive a standard wristband overnight, it can be fixed in the morning, and breakfast is available at the Palm restaurant. Breakfast was described as basic but sufficient: pastries, pancakes, doughnuts, sausages, vegetables, cheese, and cereal; the coffee was acceptable but nothing special.
Another review from a New Year stay says the service and staff were excellent, but the hotel food felt underwhelming, so the guests chose to go out for dinner. The takeaway is that the hotel can still be good value, but you should not expect memorable dining on site.
