Best boat trips and sea excursions from Hurghada

A full-day trip to the Sharm El Naga coral reserve can include lunch, with time at the beach typically running from around 10 AM until 3:30–4 PM.

At a small beach by the yachts, it may be possible to arrange a private banana-boat ride for one family: one group of three paid $45 for about 45 minutes, including a detour to the Marina, plus a $5 tip. The extended ride may have been a bonus for booking other excursions with the same seller.

A tour-operator package called “All in One” combines buggies, quad bikes, camel riding, parasailing, a banana boat, a yacht trip to an island with a dive, and a stop at White Island. On the group version, the parasailing and banana-boat segments may be brief.

Sharm El Naga is in the Soma Bay area: this is a day trip from Hurghada with shore snorkeling. Visitors are typically brought in the morning and can swim until about 3 PM; the approximate price is $37–40.

A two-hour mini-yacht or boat outing can include several swimming stops at scenic spots: one reported itinerary had four stops, with the last at an especially colorful, fish-filled reef. The reef may have a strong current, so less confident swimmers should take that into account.

On a sandbar excursion similar to Paradise Island, the sandbank disappears underwater by evening and offers little beyond white sand. The island stop is only about 30 minutes, so sun-protective clothing with a hood is useful. In October another participant added that the transfer from Hurghada is by minibus, there is a fine coral wall off the beach, the beach and lunch are included, you can swim all day until 4 PM, and the price was $37 per person.

One review of the El Gouna trip (June 2026): about 30 minutes by bus, 20 minutes by boat along the canals past hotels and villas, then out to sea on a motorboat with a banana-boat ride, snorkeling at a reef and 20 minutes on a semi-submarine watching fish. The traveler said the trip did not leave much of an impression.

A traveler who had sailed three times to one of the reefs under discussion wrote in June 2026 that it was fine but not spectacular: others had seen moray eels and mantas there, but he had not been lucky. His tip is to go when divers are in the water (2–3 dive boats come there), as a small extra safety margin. The trip he liked most was the full-day excursion to the Sharm El Naga reserve.

Be cautious with beach excursion sellers: one operator (a booth near Coral beach) promised a Tiran Island snorkeling trip — 15 min each way plus 1.5 hours on the reefs. In practice, tourists were brought to the island for only 30 minutes, then taken to a free public beach near a mainland hotel. No compensation was offered when they complained. Always confirm the exact itinerary in writing before paying.

El Gouna trips vary: in September 2026 participants wrote that there is a standard and an extended version. One description included an El Gouna tour, snorkeling and fishing; another, from spring 2026, consisted of a bus ride, a walk and a motorboat trip, with no snorkeling or fishing. Before buying, check what exactly your program includes — especially if you travel with children or want time in the water.

Sentido Reef Oasis 5-star hotel has its own reef with fish and a sandy sea entry on-site, so a separate boat trip may not be needed. The beach is about 7 minutes on foot, with tuk-tuks running every 10 minutes. Guests of the 5-star property can also use facilities at the affiliated Reef Oasis Beach Resort 4-star next door.

An El Gouna day trip from Hurghada typically includes snorkeling on a coral reef, a short banana boat ride (1–2 minutes), a 40-minute semi-submarine ride over the reef with plenty of fish, a boat tour through El Gouna's canals, and a short walk around the town. The itinerary is varied enough that you don't get tired, and you're back at the hotel by around 4 PM.
