What is the weather like in Hurghada in late August and September — is it too hot for families with kids?

Based on a recent stay through August 1, Hurghada felt noticeably hot, with occasional humidity; August heat is not always entirely dry.

According to residents, the actual hottest stretch of summer is the last week of July through the first 7-10 days of August, not just late August-September.

For more comfortable weather, locals recommend traveling either before July 15 or after August 25 (the 'velvet season') — otherwise evenings feel like an oven, causing heavy sweating even for slim people and morning headaches.

In early August, mornings can be cool: the water feels refreshing and the sun is mild, making swimming comfortable until noon, after which it turns sharply hot.

Based on several trips in late August–early September: midday and afternoon heat is scorching, and even after sunset a hot dry wind blows like a hairdryer. This is considered nearly the hottest period in Egypt.

A family traveling in early September found the heat very hard to handle: fine near the water, but extremely uncomfortable elsewhere — they arrived at dinner soaked in sweat, and the mother and daughter fainted from the heat on a few occasions. They no longer travel in summer months or early September, though Egypt's north coast was quite comfortable in July.

In late September in Hurghada, the wind feels like a welcome relief from the heat. Only a couple of evenings had strong gusts, but nothing critical — and on those evenings there were no mosquitoes either.

For families with young children, late August to early September means warm evenings and comfortable sea exits — unlike November, when cold winds make evenings chilly. You can stay on the beach until sunset without getting cold.

Mid-September temperatures hover around 35°C. The first couple of days feel very hot, but you adjust quickly. Compared to November it's actually pleasant — no cold wind, warm sea, and you can comfortably spend the whole day on the beach.

Early May is already warm enough to make evening walks uncomfortable. On a completely windless day the temperature can spike to 38°C — rare but possible.

September is a popular and well-regarded month for Hurghada — many repeat visitors specifically choose it year after year for its pleasant conditions.
