Is the seafood restaurant Mahony in Sharm El Sheikh worth it, or are there better options?

A traveler who in late July 2026 had only been to Mahony and Fish Market wrote that Mahony really has an interesting atmosphere, but he did not like some dishes: they are smothered in cheese that overpowers all the flavour. In his assessment, Fish Market is tastier.

Some participants feel the issue is not one particular restaurant: seafood in Sharm is generally mediocre and seems to be mostly frozen. In late July 2026 they wrote that Hurghada does better in this respect and recalled that flambé dishes with a showy presentation are common there.

A critical view from July 2026: Mahony is famous not for the quality of its seafood but for a noisy show with loud whistles and repetitive vegetable-and-greens decorations that staff keep moving from table to table. The seafood itself, according to this participant, is ordinary frozen farmed product, so in taste and quality the place is no different from most other seafood restaurants in Sharm — any of them will do.

Another participant disagreed: every restaurant has its own chef. At Marlin she did not enjoy the food — the seafood came with unsuitable seasonings and she barely finished it — whereas at Mahony, in her opinion, the cooking is very good.

In reply, one participant criticised Mahony's seafood soup: it contains flour, semolina and unpeeled crab and shrimp — in their view not a sign of fine cooking, just a matter of personal taste. They consider El Prince and La Gazelle clearly better than Mahony, and without the noisy show that makes you want to escape.
