TL;DR
In summer, choose hotels with sea breeze — sheltered bays like Reef Oasis can reach 50°C. Naama Bay is far better for beach relaxation than windless areas.
At some Sharm el-Sheikh beaches the entry is very shallow: you have to walk far to reach deep water, which makes sunburn likely, and walking back wet afterward is uncomfortable, especially when it's windy. Even in autumn, wind makes this long wet walk back unpleasant. Mornings the water feels refreshing, but by evening it turns hot.
Even in September, a windless bay in Sharm el-Sheikh can still be uncomfortable for hot-season travel: nighttime temperatures were around 32–33°C with no breeze at all, and daytime heat felt extreme. For late summer and early autumn, breezier stretches of coast are usually more comfortable.
Open, windy beaches are easier to tolerate in summer heat, but swimming conditions can be worse: at Jasmine Beach, strong wind can bring substantial waves, making entry and swimming more difficult, and the sea feels cooler.
From mid-September the heat is barely noticeable, but the beach can be very windy — towels blow away and it feels cool when entering and exiting the sea.
When choosing between Fairuz and Malikeya for July heat, the walk to the beach matters: Malikeya is much closer, which can be a significant factor in extreme summer temperatures.
Jaz Lagoon is a summer swimming option: water is warm, there is a breeze, though near the shore there can be minor seaweed and sediment. The adjacent waterpark water is also warm.
By midday the beach becomes nearly unbearable — visitors leave as early as 11 a.m. due to intense heat. Plan beach time for early morning.
In July, sea breeze is essential — sheltered bay hotels can reach over 50°C. Choose accommodation on open stretches of coastline where wind provides relief.
Naama Bay and Reef Oasis are worlds apart in summer comfort. Naama Bay works well for beach holidays, while Port Ghalib is worth visiting only for dining — the beach there is much worse.
Reef Oasis is situated in a windless bay, making August heat particularly brutal there. Factor this in when booking a summer stay in Sharm el-Sheikh.
