TL;DR
Sea temperature around Mahé is about 26°C and feels broadly similar across the island’s beaches. Rain does not necessarily stop swimming; Beau Vallon remained suitable for a swim during recent rainy weather.
Water felt much the same—around 26°C—at Intendance, Police Bay, Takamaka, Anse Royale and Port Launay over the course of one day. Most visitors may find this comfortable, though tolerance for cooler water is subjective.
Swimming was still possible at Beau Vallon after rain, with recent showers not noticeably worsening sea conditions. Weather can change quickly, from a cool morning to hot conditions later in the day.
Mahé can remain hot and humid even during rain, so showers do not automatically mean a cool day or cancelled beach plans. Before heading to more remote beaches, check the wind and wave conditions.
