Some locals attribute the trash to a specific pattern: between 2pm and 4pm, debris washes ashore after large excursion boats return from tours (which typically end around 3pm) and crews clean the decks directly into the sea, dumping waste overboard. During this time mostly locals continue swimming.

A later report (July 23) says the issue recurs daily in Antalya: in the afternoon the water contains finely shredded microplastic, not just seagrass or larger debris. Travelers worry about children accidentally swallowing seawater contaminated with these particles. A similar situation was noted at MoonLight beach in Kemer.

On July 7, travelers said the trash seen near shore on July 5 in Kundu was gone by the following day. Beach staff were reportedly cleaning and pulling debris from the water, while the beach itself stayed clean.

On July 4, travelers reported a large band of debris along the shoreline near SeA Life and Megasaray, including cut plastic and sea grass. Around the same time, a lifeguard cleared the water once after a reported shark sighting.

Another July 4 report noted that sea conditions could change within a day: the water was clean one day and full of debris the next. Travelers speculated that boats or yachts might be dumping waste, though this was not confirmed.
