TL;DR
In June the sea in Bitez feels refreshing on entry but comfortable for swimming. Kids swim from early June, and the water is noticeably warmer in the afternoon than in the morning.
The sea in Bitez is refreshing but very pleasant for swimming. The beach is not crowded during the day, which is a bonus.
Small waves at the beach, but children aged 3 and 5 swim comfortably. A sandbar formed a shallow lagoon — perfect for toddlers. Fine sand.
The sea feels brisk in the morning, but by 3 PM the water warms up noticeably and the small waves make it very enjoyable.
The sea gets choppy every afternoon, making swimming less enjoyable. Those who prefer calm water should go in the morning.
Kids aged 12 have been swimming since June 7 without issues. Water temperature is similar morning and evening — cool on entry but great for swimming. No exact temperature measured.
The sea is great: sandy entry (no water shoes needed), stays shallow far from shore — ideal for children. Sun loungers are always available.
Kids spent the entire day in the sea — from 10 AM to 6 PM riding waves. Refreshing on entry but very warm once you're in.
Kids had mixed reactions: one said the water was amazing, the other found it cold at first but fine after a few minutes. Subjective, but swimming is definitely doable.
