How to register on Turkish apps (grocery delivery, shopping, scooter charging) without a local Turkish phone number in Istanbul

That is why travelers most often look for a physical Turkish SIM card with a number that receives calls and texts. In September 2026 buying a number in a mobile operator store was mentioned as the known option, and people asked whether any delivery services accept non-Turkish numbers.

Not every connectivity option will work: in August 2026 a participant noted that some options for tourists usually come with mobile data only and no local Turkish number, so you cannot receive an SMS code on them. In October 2026 another participant added that finding a proper number for registration without a passport is difficult.

The same requirement came up when registering for Passolig (August 2026) and applying for Passo taraftar (October 2026): both needed a Turkish phone number, and travelers were looking for where to buy a Turkish SIM card or how to receive the verification SMS.

Registering on the Trendyol marketplace also requires a Turkish number. In August 2026 a traveler wrote that none of the virtual-number services he checked had Turkish numbers in stock, so he had to find a solution on the spot, in a hurry.

The Migros app will not let you place a delivery order until you verify the account with an SMS code sent to a Turkish number. Travelers who wanted groceries delivered to their hotel or apartment ran into this in late July and in September 2026; without a local number they asked other participants to help them register.

The myPower app, used to pay for charging a moped, also required a Turkish number to register in July 2026. The traveler was looking for a place to buy a Turkish number or asked someone to receive the SMS on their behalf.
