TL;DR
Hotel transfers (e.g. to Fujairah City) are usually paid, around 300 AED round trip; taxis have a minimum fare regardless of distance, and in Sharjah an extra tax is added to the receipt.
Taxis always have a minimum fare — even a 100-meter ride won't cost less than the minimum. In Sharjah, an extra tax is added at the end of the trip and shown as a separate line on the receipt.
The Riu hotel has no transfer service at all. Centara offers a paid transfer, but only for guests — check at reception if outside visitors can use it. Many travelers just take a taxi instead.
There's no free hotel transfer to Fujairah City — only a paid one, around 300 AED round trip. Catching a regular street taxi can be tricky in some areas, sometimes taking over an hour to wait for one.
