TL;DR
September is usually a transition month in Da Nang, with some sunshine but increasing rain and rougher seas. October and November are typically the wettest and stormiest months; December is often less rainy but still unreliable for beach trips.
September marks the shift into the wet season. Heavy showers become more frequent in the second half of the month and can last for hours; early September can still have good beach days, but sea conditions change quickly.
October is generally one of Da Nang’s wettest months. It does not necessarily rain continuously every day, but prolonged downpours, overcast spells, street flooding and rough coastal waves are all possible.
The highest tropical-storm and typhoon risk is usually around October and November. During storm warnings, swimming may be prohibited and Cham Islands or other boat trips can be cancelled, so flexible plans are advisable.
November often remains wet, making beach plans unpredictable. It is better suited to a trip with indoor and city alternatives, such as museums, cafés and local sights for rainy periods.
December is usually less rainy than October and November, but cool cloudy days, wind and waves are still possible. For more consistently dry beach weather in Da Nang, February through August is generally the better period.
