TL;DR
You can visit Ba Na Hills independently from Da Nang by scooter, taxi, motorbike taxi or Bus No. 3 for VND 40,000. The lower area is free, while access to the upper park by cable car costs about VND 1,000,000 and tickets can be bought at the entrance.
You can ride to Ba Na Hills even on a small-engine scooter, as the climbs are described as manageable. There is free guarded motorcycle parking opposite the entrance, on the right-hand side.
The budget option from Da Nang is Bus No. 3, costing VND 40,000. It runs roughly hourly from 8:30am, and the electric buses can be tracked in the DanaBus app. Taxis and motorbike taxis are alternatives.
The lower part of Ba Na Hills is free to enter and includes themed displays, a small temple, ponds, a waterfall viewpoint, cafés and souvenir stalls. A paid ticket is only needed for the cable car to the upper park, at roughly VND 1,000,000.
Tickets for the upper park can be purchased on site at the ticket counters to the right of the entrance, so advance booking is not essential. If the weather turns bad, you can stay in the free lower area and skip the cable-car ticket.
For the Golden Bridge and upper park, arrive for the 8:00am opening to reduce the risk of cable-car queues and crowds at the bridge. Plan to descend before 6:00pm, while confirming the current operating hours locally.
If your schedule allows, split the visit over two days: use a partial day for the free lower area and a full day for the upper park. For the upper zone, the cheapest non-meal ticket is suggested because there are many cafés inside.
