TL;DR
For safer swimming in Da Nang, choose the public beach sections with lifeguards, warning signs, and rope-marked swim zones. The stretches near Furama and Pullman are also swimmable, but facilities are limited for non-guests, and quieter beach areas toward Hoi An require extra caution with sea conditions.
The safest and easiest choice is a public beach section in Da Nang where lifeguards are on duty, warning signs about rip currents are posted, and ropes mark the area considered safe for swimming.
The beach stretch behind Furama is usable even if you are not staying there: you can bring your own towel and sit on the sand. Sunbeds closer to the hotel are typically reserved for hotel guests only.
The same applies near Pullman: the beach itself is accessible, but most of the hotel beach setup is meant for guests. If you want a more controlled swimming area, move toward the public beach section.
If you prefer fewer people, head along the long beach strip toward Hoi An and pick a quieter section. Just keep in mind that these stretches usually have less supervision, so you need to judge wave and current conditions yourself.
For evening beach time, note the local rule: bonfires are generally not officially allowed on Vietnamese beaches. If people do light one anyway, it should be small, far from others, and the area should be cleaned up completely afterward.
