TL;DR
From June 22, 2026, an e-visa or entry authorization is required at all Vietnamese airports. When filling out the form, use your arrival date, not your departure date.
The arrival entry form has separate fields for 'visa issue date' and 'visa expiry date', which are different from the actual entry date. The issue date should be the date shown on the visa approval email (e.g., if the email arrived on Aug 7 but the visa validity only starts later, you still enter Aug 7), and the expiry date is the visa's final validity date. One traveler received the approval email on Aug 12, with visa valid until Nov 10, 2026, entered issue date 12.08.26 and expiry 10.11.26, and the form was accepted without issues.
Russian citizens don't need an e-visa under the standard visa-free entry: arriving in Cam Ranh in late May, nothing was filled out in advance — border control issued a slip showing the required exit date (14 days), with no passport stamps.
If your flight departs on June 21 at 11 PM and arrives on June 22, you must enter June 22 as your entry date in the form. The system only shows valid arrival dates and will not allow earlier dates.
From June 22, 2026, electronic entry authorization is required at all airports in Vietnam. The system was first introduced in Hanoi on June 8, though travelers arriving on June 13 reported no checks were carried out at the airport.
Travelers flying to Vietnam on or after June 22, 2026 must obtain an e-visa or entry authorization before departure. Without it, boarding may be denied.
