Will my Vietnamese bank card or account be blocked after my visa expires?

The bank account itself won't be blocked — only the card may be frozen. Once your visa expires, there's a chance the card gets suspended until you visit a branch with your new visa to confirm your legal stay.

Officially, you're supposed to visit the bank and update your details when your visa changes. In practice, some people report their card was never blocked even without doing this.

If you hold a Visa or Mastercard from a bank not under sanctions, it works in Vietnam just like anywhere else in the world — no special restrictions apply.
