TL;DR
Egyptian hotel rooms can have pilled bedding and awkwardly placed AC units. Check the bed on arrival and request a change if needed.
As an extra bed some guests get a sofa instead of a cot — it can be very hard and uncomfortable to sleep on, not ideal for guests picky about bedding.
AC workaround: run it at max while getting ready for bed (brushing teeth etc.), then turn it down to a light breeze before sleeping and use a blanket — this avoids being bothered by the airflow/noise.
Besides the bedding itself, stains (e.g., rust-like marks) can sometimes appear on towels too. When guests complain, staff generally respond politely and try to fix the issue.
Besides awkward placement, the AC unit can also be noisy or poorly functioning, disturbing sleep at night (less noticeable during the day). Reported in both standard rooms and villas.
If bedding turns out to be dirty, reporting it at reception may be difficult — staff may deny responsibility, argue among themselves, or pressure you to say everything's fine. It's worth insisting on a linen change and, if needed, demanding to speak with a manager rather than backing down.
The AC unit may be positioned awkwardly — for example, mounted to the side of the bed near the foot end, blowing air into the gap between the bed and nightstands rather than toward the sleeping area.
In standard rooms, an extra bed is typically a folding cot — confirm this with the hotel at check-in or when booking.
Hotel bedding in Egypt can be heavily pilled, creating an uncomfortable texture that feels like crumbs under you. It's worth inspecting the bed immediately at check-in and asking for a linen change if the quality is poor.
