Is Dana Beach Resort in Hurghada worth staying at?

According to a guest report, the hotel has a good reef, but strong winds can sometimes result in a red flag, described as its main drawback. The hotel is not recommended for a winter trip; November may be fine weather-wise, but wind remains a risk.

On the second day of the stay, a guest was generally pleased with the hotel and especially the sea, but reported noticeable dirt both in the room and in public areas, including the lift and sliding entrance doors. The restaurant was a positive exception, with good cleanliness and food quality.

In mid-September, a guest reported being happy with the stay: staff were friendly and Russian-speaking guest-relations staff were available. A faulty air conditioner was repaired promptly after it was reported. The guest did not find the hotel particularly windy.

Housekeeping in that building is poor — the cleaner takes towels away without leaving new ones, guests have to chase her down. The reviewer calls it one of the worst hotels they've stayed at, noting that although it's branded under VB/Fun&Sun, it doesn't meet Fun&Sun's usual standard.

Food at the hotel was described as scarce and poor quality — the guest reported food poisoning (not only for them). By 9:30–10:00 am, shaded sunbeds on the beach are already gone. On the plus side, there's an on-site ice cream café.

Honest post-stay review: hotel is decent, room was good, but room cleaning is very poor (just for show). Huge restaurant queues at any time, especially for chicken. Many local guests in traditional clothing behaving inappropriately in the pool, restaurant, and beach. Biggest downside — wristband was cut exactly at 12:00 despite a late checkout, with only a bar offering stale pastries as an alternative.

Follow-up clarification: the long queues and high number of local guests are due to the season — locals vacation at hotels until around September 20, before school starts. Although the wristband was cut off at checkout, in practice one guest was still able to eat at the restaurant and visit the beach afterward without a wristband, unchecked.

Wind tip: there is wind in the evenings on the hotel grounds as well. It's recommended to choose a hotel located in a bay area rather than in northern Hurghada, where the wind is milder. Swimming and sunbathing are still comfortable there.

Fresh review after arrival (2 days in): the hotel is very decent, chat reviews are accurate. Paid extra for a room with a good view, food and sea are also good.
