TL;DR
Based on recent visitor feedback, the aquarium may feel underwhelming, while shore snorkeling can offer large fish, moray eels and turtles. Strong swimmers find clearer water near the far buoys and farther out.
The sea can be more rewarding than the aquarium: swimmers reported seeing a large moray eel and a turtle. Try the area to the left when facing the water from the beach, near the far buoys.
Confident swimmers found less suspended sediment and better visibility beyond the far buoys. Only go that far if you are a strong swimmer and sea conditions are suitable.
One recent visitor found the Hurghada aquarium underwhelming; if seeing fish is your main goal, shore snorkeling may be the better use of time and money.
A boat trip to Hula Hula is not a guaranteed highlight either: the destination disappointed one visitor, although the journey offered sightings of colorful fish. Consider it for the boat ride and marine views rather than for the island alone.
