TL;DR
Opinions are mixed: shrimp and fish get praise, but overall seafood preparation is fairly basic — even at a well-known fish restaurant in town, lobster and crab weren't impressive.
At a well-known fish restaurant in town, tried lobster, shrimp and a large crab — not impressive, especially compared to seafood in Goa. Crabs were small, grilled mullet was mediocre.
Locals reportedly cook beef and fish decently, but sides like mashed potato are often done poorly — so with seafood dishes, focus on the main item rather than the sides.
Different places and chefs prepare shrimp and other seafood in a fairly similar, standardized way — Egyptian cooking here isn't known for refined flavor, dishes tend to taste alike.
