TL;DR
All-inclusive food at Bodrum hotels is hit or miss: plenty of salads, Turkish sweets, and fish, but quality beef and red fish are rare. The à la carte restaurant offers better options.
Hotel Zena focuses on braised dishes — meat in clay pots and braised fish. Side dishes include zucchini, eggplant, rice, occasionally pasta or baked potato. Expect two grilled meat options plus a few trays of extras. No premium seafood or elaborate pastry-shop desserts — a typical budget 5-star spread.
At Armas Kaplan, chicken, beef, and fish are available daily; lamb cutlets appear every other day. A wide cheese selection is offered. Red fish was not seen at all during the stay.
At Amara hotel, food is varied — beef, fish, and chicken in different preparations are always available. Plenty of free tables at any meal, no queues.
The à la carte restaurant stands out with tasty salmon, fried calamari in batter, and melon. Shrimp are small, spreads are an acquired taste. The main draw is a beautiful sea view and quiet atmosphere. Watermelon is better fetched from the main buffet.
Breakfast lacks porridge, pancakes, or cottage cheese casseroles. Soups are Turkish-style only. Whole cuts of meat are rare — turkey appears occasionally, while beef and chicken come diced in mixed dishes. Desserts are average, but Turkish sweets and ice cream are good. Only local alcohol is available.
Grilled fish is a regular feature, with occasional red fish steaks and whole white fish. Good option for non-meat eaters. Watermelon goes fast — get there early.
Minced beef and lamb dishes are questionable in quality — strong offal smell masked by heavy spices. Red fish appeared only twice in 10 days; steamed white fish like pangasius is served almost daily. Fruits include apples, mandarins, oranges, plums, and watermelon. Plenty of greens, pickles, sauces, and pastries — you won't go hungry.
