Are there monkeys in Da Nang and are they dangerous?

Monkeys in Da Nang are completely non-aggressive as long as you don't deliberately provoke them. They tend to hang around the entrance area where tourists feed them ice cream, and are rarely found further inside.

Monkeys are spotted near the Lady Buddha statue and at the Intercontinental hotel. The white-bottomed macaques at the Intercontinental are notably calm and unbothered by tourists.

Monkey behavior varies across Vietnam and Southeast Asia. Da Nang monkeys are notably calmer than those in many other tourist spots. If you want to avoid them entirely, stay away from the Lady Buddha entrance and the Intercontinental hotel grounds.
