Where can you actually see monkeys on Son Tra Peninsula (Monkey Mountain) near Da Nang's Lady Buddha, not just an empty trip?

TL;DR
Monkeys are rarely seen right at Lady Buddha (Linh Ung Pagoda) or the road below it — locals confirm this. The actual monkey spot (Monkey Mountain/Monkey Pass) is about 10 km further along the Son Tra Peninsula loop road, but sightings still aren't guaranteed.
Ordered a taxi to a 'Monkey Island' pin on the map — driver ended up in a private residential area and had no idea where to find monkeys. Had to return to the hotel empty-handed.
Visited Lady Buddha in the morning, toured Linh Ung Pagoda and the statue within an hour, had ice cream — didn't spot a single monkey.
Visited around 10am — locals said there simply are no monkeys at this particular location.
The real monkey spot (Monkey Pass/Monkey Mountain) is roughly 10 km further along the peninsula road from Lady Buddha — don't confuse it with the Buddha statue itself.
Brought bananas along hoping to feed monkeys, but after 2 hours of looking around the area found none.
