Do you need a return/onward ticket to enter Vietnam if you already have an e-visa?

When flying to Vietnam, airlines usually don't ask for a return ticket if you already have a valid e-visa.

If it's just a formality check, simply saying 'I don't have one' is usually enough to get through.

In rare cases, if staff are suspicious, travelers may have to explain at length, and it doesn't always guarantee entry — this has happened to some travelers.

One traveler flies without return tickets regularly and says that even when asked, answering 'no ticket' doesn't change anything — they still get through.
