Can you swim from the beach at Baron Resort Hurghada?

At the far right end of the beach (towards Sunrise/Xanadu, opposite the Vesta beach bar), there's a wide open entry point where depth increases faster, allowing free swimming up to the buoy line.

There's a kite station on the right side of the beach; kitesurfers won't allow swimming in that area even if you wade out about 250 meters from shore.

There are three water-entry areas: the first is usually very shallow, the second reaches roughly shoulder depth at high tide for a person 173 cm tall, and the third is deep enough for swimming. Depth changes sharply with the tide: it can be ankle-deep in the morning and the buoys may even be left on dry sand. In mid-August, visitors reported very warm water and calm, wave-free conditions.

Swimming along the reef from Baron Resort may be temporarily restricted when there is a current. In strong winds, the current can pull swimmers out toward open sea rather than along the reef toward Baron Resort; this was reported twice during an 11-day stay in July.

Asked about water depth at Baron Resort near the buoys (which look close to shore in photos), a respondent said the water is basically ankle-deep there — some people sit in the water near shore, but that doesn't mean you can actually swim or splash around.

Whistles from beach staff are about nearby boat/yacht traffic near hotel moorings, not marine life danger. Snorkelers who stay away from boat traffic, near the reef, are generally not stopped even well beyond the buoy line.

One visitor reported entering from their own section of the beach and swimming freely out to deep water, going wherever they wanted — wristbands aren't visible underwater, so the buoy restriction is hard to enforce in practice. They found it odd others feel uncomfortable doing this, suggesting it may be more of a psychological barrier than an actual rule.

Asked how far out one can actually swim from the Baron Resort shore, a respondent confirmed real swimming (not just standing waist-deep) is possible, though no exact distance was given. They also noted that tides are currently quite noticeable and significantly affect swimming conditions.

You can enter the water near the buoy area, but it is not great for proper swimming: boats operate beyond the buoys, and the near-shore area is often crowded with small children, so there is little open space to swim freely.

As alternatives for people who specifically want to swim straight from the beach, Sentido and the cheaper Reef Oasis Beach were recommended; according to the discussion, both allow shore entry for swimming.

Swimming from Baron Resort's shoreline is not really possible — during low tide the water recedes to knee depth. The beach is better suited for sunbathing than actual swimming.

If swimming from the pier, young children cannot safely play independently near the water's edge, as there is no shallow splash zone nearby.

Experienced swimmers with fins can easily cover the stretch from Baron Resort to Sensatori Hotel and back. Teenagers around 13 years old manage this route with fins and basic Arena goggles. Avoid swimming in strong currents.

Weak swimmers are better off staying near the buoy line at Baron Resort — it's safer and doesn't require venturing far from shore.

Sultan Gardens Hotel is a good alternative for families with children — the sea is much calmer there, though the coral is less impressive. Marine life is present at both locations.
